CONGRATULATIONS Greg Womack! RCB 2017 Spain Hickman Distinguished Service Award Winner

Congratulations Greg!

Past President Eddie Miller introduced Greg as this year’s recipient an, in his commentary, repeated examples of Greg’s character as witnessed by co-workers, employees, church leaders, friends and family. Descriptions of Greg’s loyalty, fair-mindedness, kindness, caring concern for others, and his ability to engage others were easy to believe as Birmingham Rotarians have experienced the same traits through his 20 years of work on the Holiday Boarding Home Project. During that time, and especially the years of his chairmanship, the project has grown from serving 14 men and women at the Crim Home to serving more than 100 men and women in 8 homes with 120 members participating in a hands-on manner. When one of the boarding homes is challenged with a problem at other times of the year, Greg either finds the right help for them or he handles the matter on his own. Besides Greg’s leadership on the boarding home project, he is the first member to offer help on all other club activities and encourages all members in the Rotary way of Service Above Self. Greg Womack is a terrific choice for the club’s highest award which s based on adherence to the tenets of the Rotary’s Four Way Test”

  • Is it the TRUTH?
  • Is it FAIR to ALL CONCERNED?
  • Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  • Is it BENEFICIAL to ALL CONCERNED?

A fun piece of trivia surfaced during the presentation and again during the talk by the guest speaker. Ask Greg about his nickname…
