Holiday Boarding Homes

Delivering Christmas Presents to Boarding Home Residents

Rotary outreach to less fortunate citizens in our community hits a high mark during the holiday season. One traditional area of focus has been on the plight of hundreds of homeless residents of the many boarding homes in the Birmingham community. These boarding homes provide a safe living environment for those who cannot take care of themselves. Each year, a stronger and bigger group of Rotary volunteers shops and delivers presents to more than 90 residents in five boarding homes. This is one of the many opportunities Birmingham Rotarians have to volunteer their time and it is a wonderful way to give back to the community.

For weeks leading up to the actual donation day, dozens of Rotarians collect useable clothing and food items. These are then delivered to the boarding home residents in time for the holidays. If you have not yet delivered presents to these homes, this is one of the most rewarding experiences of the holiday season.
