Dr. Isabel Scarinci Featured in Rotary International PSA Highlighting RCB’s Cervical Cancer Elimination Project

Rotarian Dr. Isabel Scarinci, Senior Advisor for Globalization and Cancer at UAB's O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center, is featured in a new Rotary International public service announcement to be broadcast around the United States. The PSA highlights Scarinci's work leading the Cervical Cancer Elimination Project, a partnership between RCB, UAB and the Rotary Club of Columbo to eliminate cervical cancer as a public health problem in Sri Lanka. She was named one of the 2021 Rotary People of Action: Champions of Health for her efforts.

“My journey as a polio survivor motivated me to eliminate another preventable disease,” Scarinci says at the start of the message.

RCB VP of Communication Jeris Gaston, Partner with Bridgeworth Wealth Management who also serves as Rotary District 6860 Membership Director Rotaract and Vice Chair of the Rotary International Membership Committee, worked with the University of Alabama College of Communication and Information Sciences to produce the PSA.
