This week the Rotary Club of Birmingham welcomed Mayor Randall Woodfin as he delivered his "State of the City" address. The Mayor described Birmingham as a city of builders with strengths in healthcare, technology, financial services and sports. He highlighted the role of public-private partnerships in many of the city's recent achievements, including removing blight, increasing access to healthy food, improving public safety, infrastructure improvements, the construction of Protective Stadium and the renovation of Legacy Arena.

Mayor Woodfin laid out priorities going into his second term, with focus on neighborhood revitalization, improvements to public transportation, confronting the public health crisis of guns, investments in education and workforce development through programs such as the Birmingham Promise and Birmingham Strong, and his excitement for The World Games coming to Birmingham this year.

"For the past four years, we've dedicated ourselves to improving the lives of our families," Mayor Woodfin said. "It's time to look ahead to the next four years. There's a burning question: how do we make hope tangible? Those answers lie in our identity. Who we are as a city and who we want to be."
