RCB Foundation Scholarship Recipients Share their College Journeys

The Rotary Club of Birmingham (RCB) was pleased to welcome two RCB Foundation Jim Hughey Jr. Scholarship recipients to share updates on their college journeys during a recent meeting.

2022 Recipient Demetria Winston, a graduate of P.D. Jackson-Olin High School, shared that she is looking forward to her senior year at Alabama A&M University. The honors Psychology major serves as a Logistics Specialist in the Alabama National Guard and completed Cadet Summer Training at Fort Knox this summer. She was named Miss ROTC 2026-2027 and served as Command Sergeant Major of ROTC's AAMU Bulldog Battalion. She is active in Southern Belles & NSLS and was named to the President’s List.

2025 scholarship recipient Aneria Harris, a Woodlawn High School graduate, said she is excited to return to Wake Forest University for her sophomore year. She serves in leadership with the Kappa Kappa Psi band fraternity and had fun attending a bowl game as a member of the marching band. She is also a leader in the Baptist Student Union, which traveled to Puerto Rico on a service and mission trip this year.
